Rock to Reef

I know it's more than a month since the safari ended, but I´m still gonna show you some photos. This is just a picture post with pictures from the safari. I hope you enjoy!

Mä tiedän, että safari päätty jo kuukausi sitten, mutta mä aion silti jakaa muutamia kuvia teidän kanssa. Tästä tulee pääosin kuvapostaus safarista. Nauttikaa!

The setting for the safari was pretty interesting. We had 41 students from all around the world, a plastic squealing pig, 4 leaders, 1 chef and a bus driver. In the beginning not too many people knew each other and in the end leaving them all was one of the hardest things I´ve done during my year. Thank you for all of you for an amazing time!

Lähtöasetelmat safarille oli aika mielenkiintoiset. Läsnä oli 41 vaihtaria maailman joka kolkasta, yksi muovinen vinkuva possu, neljä ohjaajaa, yksi kokki ja bussikuski. Alussa kaikki tunsi pääosin oman piirin vaihtarit, mutta ei juur muita ja lopussa kaikkien jättäminen oli yksi vaikeimmista asioista joita olen tehnyt tämän vuoden aikana. Kiitos kaikille unohtumattomasta matkasta(mä tiedän, että safarin ihmisitä vaan kaks muuta suomalaista ymmärtää tän mun lisäkseni).

The trip started with a bus drive from Melbourne to Adelaide. We kept going to Gladstone and Coober pedy. After that we arrived to the "Rock" at Uluru and few days later went to explore Alice Springs. With some little trouble we flew to Cairn in Queensland and went diving and snorkeling at Great Barrier Reef. After reaching the "Reef" we started heading south. Our journey went through waterfalls to Airlie beach and Whitehaven beach. We had a day in Surfers Paradise on Gold Coast. We went to explore the Dreamworld and ended up in a town full of hippes - Byron Bay. Byron Bay was our last stop before the legendary Sydney. We had a half-day tour there and then we had the other half for ourselves. We had time of our lives and the day finished in everyone signing each others flags and shirts. The next day everyone was crying, when we had to go to different terminals to go back. At home nothing had changed, except the person coming back from Rock to Reef 2015.

Matka alkoi bussimatkalla Melbournesta Adelaideen. Jatkoimme matkaa Gladstoneen ja Coober pedyyn. Tämän jälkeen saavuimme legendaariselle Uluru:lle ja muutama päivä myöhemmin menimme seikkailemaan Alice Springs:iin. Muutaman mutkan kautta pääsimme lentämään Cairnsiin, Queenslandiin. Siellä pääsimme valliriutalle snorklaamaan ja laitesukeltamaan. Mahtavan sukelluksen ja hain kanssa uimisen jälkeen suuntasimme etelään. Matka vei vesiputousten läåi Airlie Beachille ja Whitehaven Beachille. Vietimme muutaman päivän Surfers Paradisessa Gold Coastilla. Kävimme tutkimusmatkalla Dreamworldissä ja päädyimme hippien valtaamaan kaupunkiin nimeltä Byron Bay. Byron Bay oli viimeinen pysäkki ennen legendaarista Sydneytä. Saimme kokea kierroksen Manlyn läpi ja lauttamatkan oopperatalon ja Harbour Bridgen ohi. Kyseinen kierros vei puolipäivää ja toisen puoliskon saimme itsellemme. Viettimme ajan kierrellen kaupunkia, joka oli aivan mahtava. Illalla kaikki kirjoittivat toistensa lippuihin ja paitoihin. Aamulla jokainen vieritteli kyyneleitä, kun tuli ilmi, että lennot lähtisivät eri terminaaleista. Kotona mikään ei ollut muuttunut, paitsi kotiinpalaaja vuoden 2015 Rock to Reef safarilta.

The safari was absolutely one of the highlights during this year.
Obviously I´ve done many things after the safari. I´m not going to write more now. I wanted to show you guys some pictures before it´s time to go back to Finland(which is tomorrow). Better late than never!

Safari oli ehdottomasti yksi vuoden hienoimmista kokemuksista.
Olen tehnyt paljon asioita myös safarin jälkeen, mutta en aio kirjoittaa niistä nyt. Halusin jakaa muutaman kuvan safarilta ennen lähtöä Suomeen. Parempi myöhään, kuin ei milloinkaan!
